The Village Aunty Terms and Conditions

Terms and Conditions

Last updated 22 October 2026

These terms are the agreement between you and The Village Aunty. By writing an introduction or paying a membership fee you accept them. They are written to be read, not to be impenetrable.

1. Who you are contracting with

The Village Aunty is a matrimonial introduction service for Muslims in the United Kingdom, operated by Shaykh Mohammed Muneeb, a sole trader trading as The Village Aunty, of Soothill Business Park
Soothill Lane
Batley
West Yorkshire

2. What the service is

We are a matchmaking service. You write one introduction. We verify your identity. A matching engine scores the register, a matchmaker decides what is worth sending, and proposals are sent to you and to your guardian at the same moment.

What it is not

3. Who may join

4. What it costs

Membership£29.99 for twelve months
First fifty members£19.99 for twelve months, kept for as long as the account is held
Writing an introductionFree, and always will be
Commission on a marriageNone. Not now, not ever

One payment covers twelve months. It is the only payment this service will ever ask you for. Prices include VAT where applicable.

5. Cancelling, and getting your money back

Your statutory right

Under the Consumer Contracts (Information, Cancellation and Additional Charges) Regulations 2013 you have fourteen days from paying to cancel for a full refund, without giving a reason. Email us and we will refund you.

If you ask us to begin matching inside those fourteen days you are asking us to start providing the service during the cancellation period. If you then cancel, we may charge for what has already been provided. In practice, if no proposal has been sent we refund in full.

Our own promise, beyond the law

If we have sent you no proposals at all during your year, ask and we will return your fee. This is a contractual promise and it is in addition to your statutory rights, not instead of them.

After fourteen days

Membership runs for the twelve months you paid for. You may close your account at any time and nothing further will be taken, but the remainder of a year is not refunded except under the promise above.

6. Closing your account, and coming back

You can close your account at any time, from your account page or by asking us. Your introduction closes immediately, any proposal still waiting on you is withdrawn, and everything is permanently erased within thirty days.

You are welcome to join again whenever you like, but it is a fresh start rather than a restore: your introduction, your answers and your identity check are gone and cannot be recovered. You would write a new introduction, verify again, and the fee applies again.

7. How you must behave

Membership is conditional on the Acceptable Use Policy, which forms part of these terms. In short: be truthful, be who you say you are, treat other members and their families with respect, and do not use this service for anything other than seeking marriage.

8. Suspension and removal

We may suspend an account while we look into a complaint. A suspended member is signed out and cannot sign in, any proposal waiting on them is withdrawn, and nothing they have written is deleted. Suspension can be lifted.

We may remove an account that breaks these terms or the Acceptable Use Policy. Where the breach is serious, such as dishonesty about who you are, harassment of another member, or using the service for something other than marriage, we will not refund the fee.

We will tell you why, and you may reply. If you think we have it wrong, say so and a different person will look.

9. Your information

What we collect, who sees it, how long we keep it and what rights you have are set out in the Privacy Notice. Two points belong here as well:

10. What we are responsible for

We will provide the service with reasonable care and skill, as the Consumer Rights Act 2015 requires.

The register is self-reported. We verify that a member is who they say they are. We do not and cannot verify that what they have written about themselves is true. Treat every answer you read as that person's own account of themselves, and satisfy yourself before you proceed.

We are not responsible for the conduct of other members, for anything that happens between two families after an introduction, or for a marriage not resulting. We do not limit our liability for death or personal injury caused by our negligence, for fraud, or for anything else the law does not allow us to limit. Otherwise our liability to you is limited to the fee you have paid in the preceding twelve months.

11. If something goes wrong

Email hello@thevillageaunty.co.uk and we will reply within five working days. If you are not satisfied with how we have handled your information you may complain to the Information Commissioner's Office at ico.org.uk.

If you are concerned about the safety of a member, say so in the first line of your message and we will treat it as urgent.

12. Changes

We may change these terms. If a change materially affects you we will email you before it takes effect. Changes do not apply retrospectively to a membership already paid for.

13. Law

These terms are governed by the law of England and Wales, and the courts of England and Wales have jurisdiction. If you live in Scotland or Northern Ireland you may bring proceedings in your own courts.

Nothing in these terms affects your statutory rights as a consumer.
